Hello Artists and Community Art Associations!

I'm on the planning committee for the event this year and wanted to pass on this invitation to you! It's a great creative challenge, for a great cause and the materials are supplied by the Habitat for Humanity Blue Spruce ReStore so I hope you'll consider entering : )
The deadline for entries is April 10th, 2013 at 5pm and we need between 30-40 artists in order to hold the event. I'm wondering if you could give us a little heads up if you plan to enter so we can have some idea of how many we may have? Also we have student and aspiring artist categories so if you know someone to share this with, please do. You can contact me or Boadachia at the ReStore with questions (her info below).

First you'll need to Enter by submitting 3 pieces of your art that you normally do. We have a professional jury who will review all entries. We understand that what you end up creating may not be anything like your regular art and that's okay! We will notify the artists if they have been chosen to participate or not and then you'll be able to come to the store and get your materials.

    It's a really interesting concept:
    1) You select up to $100 worth of goods from the ReStore (check back often as the inventory varies each time)
    2) There is no cost to you to enter and the items are provided free to you by the ReStore
    3) Repurpose the items you selected into a unique piece of art
    4) Donate your art back to the store for the Auction
    5) Invite your friends and collectors to the Auction
    6) Attend the Auction Oct 11th, 2013 at the Barn in Marshdale and watch people bid on your art!

    Jeannette Stutzman
    Committee Member

We would like to invite you to participate in this year's
2nd Annual Start The Dream Art Auction for the Evergreen Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity ReStore

Even if you are not interested in participating, please consider forwarding this message to fellow artists that may be interested.
The event takes place this year on October 11th, 2013 at The Barn in Marshdale, http://www.thebarnatemp.com. We'll have art by professional artists, aspiring artists and also by students. There will be lots of great art, music, food, libations and a live auction!

All forms and images of your work must be submitted by email to Boadachia@BlueSpruceHabitat.org.
Please visit the Products tab at http://www.bluesprucerestore.org to see sample items available for your artistic creation!
(Image formatting instructions are on our web site).

We sincerely hope you'll consider joining us!!

Do you know anyone who needs a place to live??  This is a very unique and special (mini-home). The views are an Artist inspiration!!!  One Bedroom, custom built (by Artist), 900sq ft one five acres of property. Easy Access to major highways, and roads are all maintained in winter and are all paved. This just became available today because our tenant had to return to Alaska for his family. I just placed the ad in rentals.com, but I wanted to give friends and family the first jump opportunity to live here. Call me or write me. Thanks, Wanda Townsend 303-279-8287

David Cuin’s new book, “Take Control of Color – Creating Drama & Impact in Arts &
    Crafts” will issue this month.

Here’s what premier American painters Tom Lynch, host of several PBS TV art series and author of seven books, and Stephen Quiller, also author of seven books, two of them on color, have to say about it:“This book will provide the definitive answer to any question on color and should be required
reading for any art student.” – Tom Lynch

“A comprehensive guide to the world of color, from color theory to design, providing food for
thought for all fine artists and artisans.” – Stephen Quiller

The book reveals how we see color and the emotional effects it can have on us. The four
essential characteristics of color and so-called color ‘theory’ and their manifold uses are fully
explained with many examples from arts and crafts. Readers will learn how different color
schemes and combinations can be derived from color theory to change the look of artwork,
convey calm or excitement and, not least, what colors to use, how to use them and where to put them. It brings together in one place all the color-related information that artists and artisans alike need to know to use color effectively to enhance their work. Even though it is written primarily for artists and craftspeople its principles apply to how we present ourselves and even to how we decorate our homes.

The book is being launched at Hearthfire Books, Bergen Village, Bergen Park, at 5pm on
February 28. Come and meet the author, peruse the book and get your copy signed! David Cuin’s work recently featured in North Light book’s “The Artistic Touch 5.” He is a Past President of EAA and founded Evergreen’s Open Door Studio Tour. David’s latest painting, “Brockhampton
Park East,” has been juried into the 2013 Colorado State Watercolor Show.
