    2013 Spring Egg Decorating Contest

You are invited to participate by becoming a professional artist contestant. Each year the EDBA sponsors an egg-decorating contest. Its purpose is to bring people downtown, celebrate Spring and raise operating expenses for the EDBA.

By volunteering to paint an egg you will be entered in the contest and be proud you contributed to our Downtown organization, which is doing so much to bring business and customers to our galleries.

    • The eggs are ceramic and may be painted with ceramic paints at GO PAINT, in Downtown Evergreen
    • Or eggs may be painted with acrylics (and possibly oil paints) on your own, in your own studio.
    • As a professional painter you will volunteer your time to paint for one of the local businesses, which are not so fortunate as to have resident artists.
    • The finished eggs will be displayed and bid upon through April
    • An opening party will be held at Evergreen Bank on Tuesday, April 2 beginning at 5:30.
    • The eggs will be displayed at the bank until April 12th, after which they will be on display at Shadow Mountain Gallery
    • People will bid on the eggs by silent auction. The person with the winning bid will win the egg.
    • There are two categories of judging, one official and one ‘People’s Choice.’

If you would like to be a Professional Artist Contestant:

    • Please call Lisa at GO-PAINT. 303-910-2246. She will pair you with a local business
    • Eggs can be picked up beginning now
    • If they are painted with ceramic paints and need to be fired, they should be done by March 25th
    • If they are painted with other paints, they should be done by March 31st. (If you wish to paint with paints other than ceramic paints, call Lisa and ask her to fire it before you pick it up)

You may also participate in the Amateur category, in which case you pay $25 and may keep your egg.

The Quarterly Newsletter of the Art Festival Industry

News, Trends, Developments, Resources and Advice
    for Art Festival Artists

        "2012: The Year in Review"
    Survey Report and Analysis

Last month, we invited more than 8,000 artists to participate in The Art Festival Newsletter's twelfth national artist survey.  The responses are in, we've collated and analyzed them and are ready to report to you on the results.

The Survey Report and Analysis are available to you at no cost

Click HERE  to read the report in convenient PDF format.

The survey results paint a clear, factual and broad-based demographic picture of art festival artists from all regions of the United States. The results also depict the longevity, breadth and future plans for participation of the art festival artist community.  In many ways, the results paint a poignant picture of the art festival industry, both today and in the future.

Importantly, the survey allows us to observe trends among artists in the art festival industry through comparison with survey results from 2010 and 2011.  These comparisons and trends are described in the survey report.

We are also making the report available to more than 1,700 art festivals nationwide, in the hope that the knowledge they gain will assist them in enhancing the success of their festivals for exhibitors.

As always, we welcome your comments and suggestions about the survey, The Art Festival Newsletter and our other publications.  If you are not yet a subscriber to The Art Festival Newsletter, please click HERE to see a special subscription offer, featuring a 40% discount off our usual subscription rate.  The offer is limited, so please act now!

We also invite you to visit the industry's most exciting website: www.Art-Linx.com...the incredible homepage for artists!  It's useful, fun---and free!

Hi I'm a new member of the EAA and want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and spread the word that I am hosting an intro to Sculpting class in my studio this July 3rd.  The class is the first of a series I will be hosting in my studio and I am offering this class at a special introductory price of $150.00 to get the ball rolling.  I am a full-time sculptor and you can view my work at http://www.stevemillersculpting.com I work in a variety of mediums and am looking forward to sharing my processes and knowledge.  I moved to Evergreen almost three years ago and have been busy building my studio the past two years.  I wouldn't say it is "completed" but it is in a very workable state.  I don't know that the studio will actually ever be "completed" as every time I think I'm about done a new idea for it pops into my head.  But that is just the growing process!  That is the fun part.  I hope you will check out my class we are sure to have a lot of fun.  The class will run for two and a half weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  A total of five classes and then we will have a gallery night on the following Thursday to show off our creations to friends and family.  To view the flyer with information on this class please visit http://www.stevemillersculpting.com/Class.html

Thanks, I look forward to meeting you all soon!

I have been working with Artisans for more than 25 years now. I first started as a volunteer, passing out water during art festivals. Manning the kids stations was also fun, since my own children were little at the time. Those were some good times! This gave me opportunities to meet and see many different artisans from around the world!  Artisans who's work impressed me and were friendly and sharing, I would ask for their business card. Needless to say, I have a draw full of business cards from many different Artisans. I continue to get Artisans cards because I plan to one day have my own private art show. I am still in the planning stage and have been for some time.
My family and I joined the Evergreen Artist Association only a year or two ago, so I consider us very new to this organization. I have met a few artist, Beth Erlund was one of the very first ladies I met when I volunteered for the parade. Pixie Glore is now a friend as well. I am hopping to meet and greet more friends in the near future.
I know Artisans are very gifted people, which to me makes them very special and unique! I know this from personal experience over the years, and also being married to one for so many years!
Keep up the good works and please say hi to me when we meet in the future. Wanda Townsend

Beth and I had fun with the Evergreen Parade passing out beads and postcards. This was my very first experience with Evergreen Artist Association. I took pictures of the event and would like to share them with others. If you would like to see some of the pictures of the parade and Evergreen Association float, just let me know. Thanks, Wanda
