An illustrated journey through the
practical use of color in arts and crafts.

March 22, 2016 Tuesday

Main Street Gallery

5:30 - 6 p.m. Social time

Starts at 6 p.m. prompt

Light snacks and beverages provided.

The presentation will lead you to a more effective use of color in your art, not just in all forms of painting, but also in other mediums such as photography and ceramics. The following topics will be discussed and illustrated:

  • What color does to us.

  • The four dimensions of color: hue, value, temperature, and chroma. (The Munsell Color Order System).

  • Explore color ‘theory’ and the standard color model for artists: temperature, analogous and complementary colors, chroma loss and graying.

  • Create impact: with hue, temperature, and color balance.

  • Create drama: with value, and chroma.

  • Getting the biggest bang for the buck!

  • Color as a design tool (if time).
